this is another of those great swatches of knitting to allow you to try out a new stitch. They say it is a washcloth of course, but it could easily be expanded into anything. A blanket, a pillow, a sweater. The idea is the stitch. Try it out on something small and see if you like it first. I think I do. and it is great for beginner knitters.
