Sunshine Dots Crochet Baby Blanket

Textured stitches created with simple chains "dot" the surface of this easy one-piece blanket to create a perfect pattern of dimensional diamonds. Stitched in sunny sport weight yarn, this cheery design will brighten any baby's nursery!

38 x 39 inches

Materials

  • Red Heart Baby sport weight yarn: 24 oz baby yellow #224
  • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

4 sc = 1 inch; 5 sc rows = 1 inch
Check gauge to save time.

Pattern Note

Weave in loose ends as work progresses.

Work in only sc sts of each row, sk ch-4 lps and keep all on RS of blanket.

Blanket

Row 1 (WS): Ch 151, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (150 sc)

Rows 2 & 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each of next 10 sc, [ch 4, sc in each of next 10 sc] 14 times, turn.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each of next 9 sc, ch 4, sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 4, [sc in each of next 8 sc, ch 4, sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 4] 13 times, sc in each of next 9 sc, turn.

Row 7: Rep Row 5.

Row 8: Rep Row 4.

Rows 9-11: Rep Row 5.

Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each of next 15 sc, ch 4, [sc in each of next 10 sc, ch 4] 12 times, sc in each of next 15 sc, turn.

Row 13: Rep Row 5.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each of next 14 sc, ch 4, sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 4, [sc in each of next 8 sc, ch 4, sc in each of next 2 sc, ch 4] 12 times, sc in each of next 14 sc, turn.

Row 15: Rep Row 5.

Row 16: Rep Row 12.

Rows 17-19: Rep Row 5.

Rows 20-171: Rep Rows 4-19, ending last rep with Row 11, fasten off.

Edging

Rnd 1: Attach yarn in any corner, [ch 3, dc {ch 1, 2 dc} twice] in same st as joining, sk next 3 sts or 3 rows, *[{2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc} in next st, sk next 3 sts or 3 rows] rep across to next corner st **, [2 dc {ch 1, 2 dc} twice] in corner st, sk next 3 sts of 3 rows, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off.
